Guest speaker Pastor Dave McClamma from Hope for Brazil Ministries walked us through Joshua chapter 1 and invited us to take a missions trip with Israel as Joshua leads a new generation to the promised land. Moses is gone, Joshua receives God’s assignment, the people are challenged to prepare, and God promises His presence, protection, and provision. The chapter ends with a powerful response from the people that models what an all in life looks like for believers today.

God has a plan and a promise for all of our lives

      • Assignment given to Joshua (v. 1-2)
        • Gather the children of Israel and remind them they are on mission for God and get them back to the Promised land
        • Help prepare the people to follow, obey, and be part of God’s plan .
      • God’s promises for the journey (v.3-9)

      • Provision and plan
        • What God promises He fulfills in His time. Our part is obedience (v. 3)
        • Presence

          • I will never leave you nor forsake you. God is with His people when they witness and serve. (v. 5)
        • Protection

          • God removed obstacles that would keep His mission from advancing. (v. 5)
      • Get your supplies ready (v. 10-15)
        • Preparation is an act of faith. Pack your bags spiritually and practically.
        • Today each believer has a field to serve and a part to play

    Model response

        • Whatever and wherever

          • All that you have commanded we will do and wherever you send us we will go. This is full surrender and full participation.
        • Saying yes positions you for God’s best

          • Yes opens doors to see God’s work. A church filled with people who say yes becomes a sending and serving people church

Mission opportunities for you and I

          • Pray daily to the Lord to use me today

          • Prepare to cross your Jordan
          • Gather your spiritual supplies
          • See Polk County as your mission field

            • Neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and the grocery store are places where God can work.
          • Support those who go and be ready to go

Pray for the mission team from Trinity Baptist Church going to serve in Guatemala

          • Be filled with the Spirit
          • Safety
          • Be the light
          • Strength
          • Wisdom
          • Knowledge
          • Courage
