Continuing in the Book of James, Pastor Kevin centers this weeks sermon in James 5:7-12 on living faithfully between Christ’s ascension and His promised return. James gives specific instructions for how believers are to wait well, with patience, spiritual stability, unity, endurance, and integrity, all while keeping the urgency of the gospel in view.

• Be patient
James 5:7 repeats be patient to emphasize perseverance. Like a farmer who plants and then works while he waits for the rains, believers keep serving and trusting God while looking to the coming harvest.

• Establish your heart
James 5:8 To establish means to be well-grounded. Grow in spiritual maturity through God’s Word, worship, and community. Know your calling, plant yourself in it, and push through doubts and setbacks.

• Do Not Grumble or Hold Grudges
James 5:9 Unity in the body matters. Do not turn on fellow believers. The judge is standing at the door, so treat one another with grace and forgiveness rather than complaints and divisions.

• Endure Trials and Suffering
James 5:11 Suffering is part of life in a fallen world. Hold fast to the Rock of Ages. God is greater than any storm, and endurance leads to blessing. The prophets and Job are given as examples of steadfastness.

• Have Integrity
James 5:12 Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Christian witness depends on credibility and character both in public and in private. Live genuinely, not superficially.

• The Gospel’s Urgency
2 Corinthians 6:2 Now is the day of salvation. Admit sin, believe in Jesus, and confess Him as Lord. Delaying hardens the heart and risks missing God’s invitation. (Romans 1:28)

Conclusion
Jesus is coming back. Until He does, keep working and waiting like the farmer. Strengthen your heart in the Lord, guard the unity of the church, endure trials with hope, and walk in integrity. Hold out the gospel urgently and confidently, trusting the compassionate and merciful Lord who sees, sustains, and will return.
