In this message, Pastor Gene reminds us of the finished work of Jesus Christ and the eternal hope made possible through the cross. Using scripture 1 Peter 3:18 as the opening reference, we see Jesus is the suffering Savior who gave His life for us, the just Savior who paid the price for the unjust, and the delivering Savior who brings us back to God. Through His death, Jesus made forgiveness possible, and through His resurrection, He conquered sin, death, and the grave. Because of Christ, every person has a choice to serve God or serve the world. The doorway has been opened for the lost to be saved, the hurting to be healed, and all who believe to spend eternity with Him.

Suffering Savior

It is finished. Jesus died for us on the cross, he provided us a pathway to spend eternity with Him.

        • ‘When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. (John 19:30)
        • ‘…and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt. ‘(Hebrews 6:6)

When you find the God of love, that is when we trully begin to understand what love is.

The Just Savior

The just was given to the unjust. Through Jesus sacrifice on the cross, the entire world was forgiven.

        • ‘It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. ‘ (Romans 3:26)
        • ‘but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. ‘ (1 Peter 1:19)

Delivering Savior

Pastor Gene reminded us that we cannot save ourselves. (Acts 4:12).

Jesus delieves us to God. We all have a choice, we can serve God or we can serve the world.

Dying Savior

Jesus died once. It only took one death so that we all may live. Jesus made it possible only through his death.

        • ‘For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ (Romans 6:23)
        • ‘For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. (Romans 5:10)
        • He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. ‘ (1 Peter 2:24)
        • Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. ‘ (Hebrews 9:22)
        • ‘Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. ‘ (John 15:13)

Risen Savior

Jesus didn’t stay dead. Jesus was made alive! On the 3rd day (Luke 24:21), Jesus rose so we can live for eternity with him. We’ve been made alive in the spirit of God (1 Corinthians 15:55-57)

Those who have accepted Jesus as their personal savior, they will be raised to live with Christ in heaven for all eternity. (1 Thessalonians 4:14-18)

The lost will stand in judgment before God at the great white throne and be judged. (Revelation 20:11-15)

We all have a choice, we can serve God or we can serve the world. Either way, out actions will be judged accordingly and we will spend time in eternity with heaven with God, or in eternity in the lake of fire with death and Hades.

“The most important thing we need to see today is that Christ opened a doorway for the lost to come to Him for the hurting to be healed and the blind to see. The suffering just and delivering savior has offered his life to end death and then rose again on the third day for you and me so that we, the unjust, might be with him, the just in glory forever.”
