In this Father’s Day message, Pastor Kevin reflects on the unwavering goodness of God and His role as the ultimate Giver. Drawing from James 1:17, the sermon explores how every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights—our unchanging and faithful God. Unlike Satan, who tempts us to destroy us, God lovingly tests us to strengthen and grow our faith. The message challenges listeners to recognize, receive, and respond to the generous gifts God offers each day.

The Nature of God’s Gifts
Every good and perfect gift comes from above. God never gives us something harmful or destructive. His gifts—whether joy, peace, salvation, or even trials—are for our growth, maturity, and eternal good.

The Gift Must Be Received
Using a visual illustration with his son, Pastor Kevin emphasized that a gift is not truly a gift until it is both freely given and freely received. God offers salvation and spiritual gifts to all, but they must be personally accepted to bring transformation (John 1:12; Romans 6:23).

The Giver Cannot Be Separated from the Gift
God’s gifts are good because He is good. You cannot separate the gift from the Giver. His character defines the quality of His gifts. When we know the heart of the Father, we can trust the gifts He places in our lives.

The Unchanging Character of the Giver
God does not change like shifting shadows. He is eternally faithful, holy, and loving. While people change with time, emotion, and culture—God remains the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

The Purpose of the Gifts
God gives us spiritual gifts to bear fruit and bless others. Believers are called to use their God-given gifts for ministry, service, and to reflect Christ in a world that desperately needs Him. Gifts unused are blessings missed.

Examples of God’s Good and Perfect Gifts
The sermon closed with a reflection on 14 beautiful gifts from the Father—such as love that cannot be measured, peace that cannot be disturbed, and strength that cannot be defeated—each one perfectly tailored to meet our deepest needs.

God has already extended His greatest gift through Jesus Christ—salvation.

Have you received it?

Pastor Kevin invites listeners to respond to the gospel: to admit their sin, believe in Jesus, and confess Him as Lord. For believers, the challenge is to recognize the good and perfect gifts God has placed in their lives and to use them faithfully for His glory.
